Welcome to Little Twisters Blog

We would like use this blog to share all news and fun activities that are happening in the nursery with existing and prospective parents so you can see what we get up to during time spent at Little Twisters!

Staff will share ideas and we will use this blog to share newsletters and important information.

Children have been back in nursery for just over two weeks and it feels like the Christmas break is a distant memory.

We would like to welcome all of our new families to Little Twisters and hope you have settled in.

This half term all rooms have a main focus of Mathematics whist also covering all other areas of learning and development.

We have been enjoying different Maths related activities including both number work and games involving shapes, space and time. All activities are age and stage appropriate to the rooms children are in and we have been posting pictures on our Facebook and Instagram pages displaying what experiences we have enjoyed, whilst offering ideas for extended home learning.

The younger babies in the Ladybird room have been singing number rhymes such as “1,2,3,4,5”, they have also been exploring treasure baskets and playing with different sized cars in the flour.

The Bumble bee children have also been singing number rhymes such as “3 cheeky monkeys” and “5 current buns”, these song are alot more interactive which this age group really enjoy becoming involved in! They have also been building towers using different resources counting  the blocks, boxes and junk as they build.

Children from the Caterpillar room have enjoyed making different shaped pasta pictures and have completed a brand new hungry caterpillar themed number line!

Grasshoppers have used their story of the week theme “The Gruffalo” using postional language when they went on a walk to the Risng sun to find the Gruffalo! Children wondered if he was behind the trees or if the owl was on top of its nest. They have also enjoyed matching quantities to numerals and have discussed comparisons between big and small.

We have lots of different activities and experiences planned over the coming weeks including trips out to collect items and resources for Burns night, Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day. Check out our daily posts on Facebook and Instagram for inspiration.
